LESSON POLICIES

Payment − Payment for a month’s lessons are due at the first lesson of each month.  Rates are as

                    follows:

  • $120 a month for 4 half hour lessons

  • $240 for 4 hour lessons

If there is one less/one extra lesson in the month, you will be charged (or not charged)

accordingly; $30/half hour, $60/hour.  Students who quit mid-month will not be refunded.

Cancellations − Notice must be given at least a day in advance, otherwise the lesson is missed and

will not be rescheduled (no refund will be given).  If a student is late for a lesson,

that time will not be refunded or made up.  Emergencies and illnesses are an exception.

Please do not come to a lesson if you are sick!  I will reschedule!  If a lesson is

missed and you choose not to schedule a make-up, you will not be refunded.

Practice* − Students will progress much faster and enjoy lessons more when they practice outside of

lessons.  Minimum recommended practice times are:

  • 10- 15 minutes a day for younger or beginner students

  • 30 min a day for intermediate students

  • 45 min a day for advanced students.

  • 5 days a week for ALL LEVELS.

Please make sure students have their music books for the lesson!

I strongly encourage all parents, especially those with younger children, to be a part of their child’s musical journey.  This includes sitting in on lessons if you like, asking the teacher any musical questions you have, and helping your child practice at home.

* A note on "practice time": many students think that a lesson IS practice time.  This is not the case!  A lesson is where the teacher listens to what the student has ALREADY practiced, and then gives assignments and goals to PRACTICE over the next week.  I will explain this difference to students during lesson, but if at home you hear them refer to lessons as "practice" it will help if you reinforce that concept.
